Using the following Elements as a basis for this photographic task
Texture & Line
Explore different types of Line and Texture as they are found in the natural environment.
Use the work of Photographers Rob Dobi as a starting point for inspiration in this task

What to strive for in this task…
- Creativity/Unique Concepts: You can take this task as laterally as you wish, creativity and thinking outside the box is encouraged. just make sure Line/Texture and the natural environment is the focus of this task
- Technical Accomplishment: With all photographic tasks, technical accuracy is of great importance, your photos must be Clear, Crisp, in Focus & have even/intentional Exposure.
- Principles or Art: Consider how you compose each photograph, the Elements of art are nothing without the way in which they are applied using the Principles of Art. For this reason try applying some of the principles of art to Line & Texture, consider: repetition, balance, composition, movement, focal point, space & contrast.
What you need to accomplish…
- Create a page on your web site titled 'Principles and Elements of Nature'
- Find a minimum of one image by another photographer which represents line or texture in nature, clearly label this image as inspiration on this page.
- Submit a minimum of 2 highly resolved photos to this page, each photograph needs to be labelled with the following: Title of work, Date photograph was taken, Where photograph was taken, Shutter Speed Setting, Aperture Setting & ISO Setting.
- It is expected you use the photoshop skills you have learnt in class to edit and enhance these images.
- The minimum 2 photos you submit need to be taken during class/at school, you are encouraged in this subject to remember 'the more you practice and put into each project the more you will gain from this class'. You might want to take more photos outside of class and include these on your website. create a new page with a title of your choose for them if you choose to do so. extra credit will be awarded for students who pursue each task further
How will you be marked…
Each photograph will be marked on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Clearly present the Element of either Line or Texture
- Clarity of images: present clear, crisp and in focus photos
- Use of compositional techniques
- ability to apply the Principles of Art to Line/Texture in your photographs
- Presentation of work on your website: is your page easy to follow, does the presentation reflect the them of your work, are your photographs correctly labelled.
- Originality/Creativity: how visual interesting is the photograph, unique in subject matter/idea, uses creative camera angles or applies the principles of art to line& texture in a creative/unique way
- Photoshop: ability to enhance the overall photo in a realistic way
- extra credit will be awarded for students who explore this theme further outside of class
